Wet Basement Repair is Done Right By Toronto Waterproofing
A major sign that your home requires wet basement repair is that water is coming into your basement where your floors meet the walls. The location of the cause of this type of leak can be hard to determine. The water is collecting on the outside of your home either below or next to it. As the water collects pressure builds and the water is pushed through cracks and crevices.
As if seeping water isn’t a big enough clue that your GTA home needs waterproofing – pooling or standing water is a huge red flag that something needs to be done. Leaving this stagnant water in your basement will cause further damage to your home’s structure and the health of your home’s atmosphere.
Other signs that your basement is allowing water to enter into your home are white crystalline stains and spots on your walls, and moisture around cracks and crevices. You may also smell a distinct musty odor or see mold. Any of these signs are warnings that your basement needs leak repair.
How To Repair A Wet Basement?
Basements can either be repaired from the inside or the outside. When repaired from the outside we dig a trench about 5 feet deep and 2 to 3 feet wide. This trench allows us to see exactly where the water is being allowed to enter your home. We then seal cracks and crevices so that no more water can seep through them. Our years of experience and top-of-the-line materials ensure that your home will be free and clear of any more leaks.

Effectiveness of Interior Waterproofing
Interior waterproofing is also extremely effective. For the waterproofing to be done properly everything has to be removed from the walls and the perimeter of the room. This allows our professionals to get a good look at every nook and cranny that has issues now or could possibly have issues in the future.
We start by breaking out a trench along the perimeter of the basement where we will be able to set a filter and weeping tile. The weeping tile is connected to a source that will help drain any water. Sometimes sump pumps are needed for the amount of water that has collected. Once all standing water has been removed the perimeter walls have a dimple membrane applied to them. Gravel is set over the weeping tile and concrete is poured over the trench area.
Once all of the steps have been taken to remove any existing water and prevent more water from entering the basement you can proceed with construction of interior walls and flooring if you desire. We ensure that our Toronto customer’s basements are free and clear of moisture and completely safe to live in once we finish with leak repair. When we leave you can rest assure that your GTA home is going to be able to stand up against the elements and no further damage will occur due to water.
If you’re unsure whether your basement will need repairs done from the inside or the outside you can always give us a call and talk to us about your options.
